I picked up the tires today and got them mounted on the wheels. Between that, the workday last Sunday and the work I got done yesterday, its been a pretty productive week so far.
A good amount of time was spent yesterday tweaking and adjusting the engine bay sheet metal. Most of it is drilled for rivets now, with just some minor bits that need cleanup at this point. I’m hoping to have the sheet metal ready for either powder coating or painting within a week or two. Its almost time to order the motor and transmission.
I’m still flailing with the brakes. I’ve ordered one set of adapters and AN fittings after another and haven’t come up with an arrangement I like. My current thinking is to run the flex -3 AN lines behind the dash as I was planning, but buying or borrowing an AN flaring tool and creating hardlines with -3 on one end and the 3/8″ inverted flare fittings on the other. That means finding a flaring tool at a reasonable price that I can get relatively quickly.
So I’m very happy with the quality of the wheels, especially considering the $400 it cost for two 17×9’s and two 17×10.5″‘s. The tires cost basically three times that amount. Bleh.
A view of the face of the front wheels:
The tires are pretty beefy, at 245/45R17:
Nice Cobra center caps, although I’m missing two:
The rears is where its at though. The tires are 315/35R17:
The lip is 3.5″:
Almost 12.5″ inches wide:
And, as witnessed by all the rocks picked up just rolling them through the garage, the tires are very sticky:
Hopefully this week I can get some time to tighten up the suspension bits and get the tires mounted. Once I do that, I can do the final positioning of the brake lines.
Its finally going to start looking like a car!
