Its been a busy few days so I haven’t had much time since getting the tires mounted to work on the car. I did take a few minutes last night to double check that (finally) the in-dash brake lines I’ve bought are the right length now, and I tossed (in a “wow this wheel and tire is really freakin’ heavy” kind of way) one of the rear wheels on the car to see how it fit.
My parents are visiting this weekend, so I’m guessing it’ll be the following weekend before I have more time to work on the car. By then my 37 degree flaring tool should be here and I can hopefully finish the brakes. Read the rest of this post to see photos of the brake lines and the wheel on the car.
The rear wheels really are enormous. Once on the car its much easier to get a sense of how big they really are.
These wheels will definitely fill out the wheel wells!
In the last picture you can see the routing of the brake lines. The shorter lines with 90 degree fittings definitely work better in the space. The line from the far left master is the cluch, and it and the right master (which is for the rears) run to the bulkhead fittings at the right of the photo. The middle master’s line runs down and along one of the 3/4″ frame pieces between the pedals and out a bulkhead fitting in the front of the footbox. After spending $200 on various AN fittings and adapters (which all can be returned thankfully), I realized the right way to plumb the rest of the system to this configuration is to buy an AN-sized flaring tool and run the hardlines directly to the bulkhead fittings.
