This weekend, like a few lately, was largely spent (where the car was concerned) driving around looking for parts because some vendors don’t seem to understand when someone says “I want everything I need to get this done”.
Because I was missing so many parts I needed, I only managed to get the de-gas tank installed and a little bit else here and there. I did get a pretty good list of additional parts I needed and placed a big Summit Racing order.
The de-gas tank is the fill-point for the cooling system. Because the radiator is buried up in the front of the car and sits at an angle, it doesn’t have a cap like most cars. Coolant runs from the engine through it, where it helps remove air from the system, and then from it to the radiator.
I had made a bracket last weekend to support it. The paint didn’t hold and I had to grind the paint off, prime and repaint it on Saturday. After that it was pretty quick to get it installed in the car. I also had to actually mount and rivet the passenger F-panel because the hose went on the other side of it. I also trimmed and fit the patch panel in the F-panel to fill up some of the space around the de-gas tank.
In all it came out pretty well, but it was frustrating that I couldn’t get the rest of the hoses in.
